MEET THE ARTIST

Though in-person, she may seem like a woman of few words, her loud imagination pours through creative expression.

Jamera is a Toronto-based
Digital and Traditional Multidisciplinary Artist.

She is a Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) graduate, with a Bachelor of Technology in Graphic Communications Management - and a concentration in Graphic Output. With every brushstroke, her work uses a treatment of bold colors and layers of organic shapes to explore
stories in a new light.

Her artistic journey began in early childhood, designing and sewing doll clothing out of fabric scraps, to painting intricate designs on her nails as an adolescent. The fuel for Jamera’s inspiration is in nature, music, culture, her Jamaican heritage, and spiritual journey. Though in-person, she may seem like a woman of few words, her loud imagination pours through creative expression. Her works have been featured in VIBE Arts NExT, Worth Gallery, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), City Of Toronto Employment & Social Services (Etobicoke), and Brampton’s Emancipation Park. She has also furthered her education, skills and mentor relationships through ArtworksTO, Rising VR,
The Remix Project, and OCAD.

Jamera finds fulfillment in nurturing young minds and fostering creativity through art coordination. A role she was introduced to in her high school summers as a camp counselor. Helping youth to embrace their imagination and think outside of the box has become an art form of its own.

Through her brand Just J. Art, Jamera’s goal is to engage, shift perspectives, and inspire. Enriching the world with messages of light and love.

SUMMER CAMP ARTS CO-ORDINATOR
I plan, organize, and facilitate arts, crafts and workshop lessons for children to
youth from grades 1 +. Teaching art fundamentals while honing in on education of the things around us, past, present and future through a cultural BIPOC lens.
