Jammin'

Medium: Exterior paint on metal
Organization: StART Toronto
Location: 3200 Ellesmere Road, Scarborough, Ontario
(Ellesmere & Morningside Intersection)

Jammin' embodies the essence of diversity, weaving together elements of nature, athletics, and the arts in connection to Caribbean heritage. Its purpose is to give homage to the vibrant lifestyle and traditions of the islands, and lift spirits to spread warmth, especially during the colder, sun-scarce months in the city. Central to the mural is a figure radiating joy and laughter while singing a tune - embodying a carefree soul. To the right side, an older woman dances in a red dress, portraying a passion for Caribbean rhythms. Sports are honored through the silhouette of a distant runner, a soccer player and two fisher boys. The peaceful blue waters speak to the timeless connection with the sea. Surrounding it all, are swaying coconut trees. This work is an invitation to experience the warmth and heartbeat of Caribbean culture while in Toronto.
